Job Description - Infection Preventionist 2 (260001TB)

Infection Preventionist (IP) 2 reliably demonstrates professional expertise in infection prevention and control (IPC) and applies basic and advanced IP skills in the surveillance, identification and reporting of communicable diseases and healthcare acquired infections according to hospital policy, professional and established guidelines and regulations. Responsible for collaborating to implement and sustain effective IPC strategies and provide education as needed for physicians, team member, volunteers, and patients related to patient safety via IP practices.

Routinely conducts surveillance of the environment and reports potential hazards related to infection prevention. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Infection prevention, clinical Lab Science, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field
• Licensed in the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse or Medical Technologist
• Certification in Infection Control
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience as an Infection Preventionist in an acute care hospital with completion of Advanced IP training. An equivalent combination of education and years of experience may be considered.
