The Senior Director, Revenue Cycle Management provides enterprise-wide leadership for Sarah Cannon Research Institute's (SCRI) revenue cycle operations across both the Site Management Organization (SMO) and Contract Research Organization (CRO). This role oversees the full research revenue cycle, from budget and contract development through study startup, billing compliance, invoicing, collections, and revenue realization. Reporting to this role are the Director of Revenue Cycle and, through a dotted-line relationship, the Director of Budgets & Contracts (SMO), ensuring seamless alignment between upstream contracting activities and downstream revenue cycle execution.

The Senior Director is responsible for driving operational excellence, compliance, standardization, process efficiency, and financial performance across the network. This is a remote U.S.

-based position. Preference will be given to candidates in the greater Nashville, TN area. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available.

What You’ll Do
  • Define and execute SCRI’s revenue cycle strategy across SMO and CRO operations, aligning departmental goals with enterprise financial objectives.
  • Lead, develop, and retain a multi-level organization, including direct oversight of the Director of Revenue Cycle and dotted-line leadership of the Director of Budgets & Contracts.
  • Drive integration between budgets, contracts, study startup, billing, invoicing, collections, and revenue recognition to create a streamlined end-to-end revenue cycle.
  • Prioritize resources, technology investments, and process improvement initiatives that improve compliance, cash flow, profitability, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain scalable processes, controls, and documentation that optimize revenue cycle performance and billing compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical research billing requirements, coverage analyses, contract terms, accounting standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Legal, and Executive Leadership to evaluate financial performance across studies, sponsors, projects, and business units, and drive resulting action plans.
  • Lead monthly operating reviews and executive reporting on key metrics, including accounts receivable, days sales outstanding (DSO), unbilled revenue, aged balances, write-offs, and cycle times.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on revenue cycle best practices, operational improvements, and growth initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for Success

Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 1 year of Director-level experience with direct people leadership responsibilities.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in revenue cycle, receivables, finance, or a related discipline, including at least 3 years within healthcare or clinical research.
  • Seven or more years of progressive leadership experience preferred, including experience leading managers and/or directors.
  • Clinical research industry experience strongly preferred, particularly within both SMO and CRO environments.
