Tooling Technician
The Tooling Technician maintains, repairs, and prepares foam molds to ensure a continuous supply of correct tooling for production. This role involves operating a forklift, using a variety of hand and machine tools, and applying strong mechanical aptitude to keep tooling in optimal condition for a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Clean, repair, and inspect foam molds to ensure they meet production specifications and quality standards.
- Prepare and maintain a continuous supply of production-ready tooling by organizing and staging molds in advance of production runs.
- Operate a forklift safely to move, position, and set up molds for production lines.
- Use basic hand tools to disassemble, adjust, and reassemble molds and related tooling components.
- Work with drill presses, mills, and lathes to perform machining tasks required for mold repair and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues with molds and tooling, identifying root causes and implementing effective repairs.
- Perform machine setup activities related to molds and tooling to support efficient production changeovers.
- Inspect molds and tooling for wear, damage, or defects and communicate findings to maintenance or engineering as needed.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and other team members to minimize downtime and support continuous production.
- Document work performed on molds and tooling as required by plant procedures.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and work with mechanical systems and components.
- Experience performing repairs on molds, tooling, or similar mechanical equipment.
- Proficiency using basic hand tools for disassembly, adjustment, and repair tasks.
- Ability to operate and work with drill presses, mills, and lathes in a safe and effective manner.
- Experience with machine setup, particularly related to molds or tooling in a manufacturing environment.
- Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues with molds and tooling.
- Capability to operate a forklift or willingness to learn and become certified as required.
- Ability to work effectively on third shift and adapt to training on a different shift.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a tooling, maintenance, or mold repair role in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience working in an automotive or Tier 1 supplier environment.
- Interest in developing into maintenance technician or tool and die roles as part of a long-term career path.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines consistently.

WorkEnvironment
This role is based in a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing facility that supplies major automotive manufacturers. The plant operates in a climate-controlled environment; however, it can still feel hot due to the nature of working around foam and production equipment. The position primarily works on third shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with initial training conducted on second shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. You will work around production machinery, foam molds, and material handling equipment such as forklifts, using hand tools, drill presses, mills, and lathes as part of daily tasks.
The environment emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to manufacturing processes while maintaining a steady production pace.
This is a Permanent position based out of Spring Hill, TN.
