The City of Spring Hill is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Worker 2 within the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for operating equipment and performing skilled construction and maintenance work. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Construction Superintendent.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance- Operates jackhammers, mowers, brush chippers, pipe saws, asphalt/concrete saws, and other small equipment.
- Performs routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Reports equipment defects and needed repairs to the supervisor.
- Cleans and maintains assigned equipment.
- Assists crews with digging ditches and trenches, hoisting materials, tools, and equipment, and laying pipes.
- Performs scheduled stormwater inspections and repairs on jobsites.
- Assists with installing and maintaining traffic control devices.
- Performs all duties in accordance with applicable safety and security standards.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Keeps work areas, equipment, and tools clean and orderly.
- Supports crews with general labor and jobsite activities as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Tennessee Driver's License.
- Stormwater Level 1 Certification required, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of standard construction equipment.
- Knowledge of hazards associated with equipment operation and applicable safety rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of traffic laws and ordinances governing equipment operation.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions used in laboring work.
- Ability to quickly and accurately adjust machine or vehicle controls.
- Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver's license.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
