Position: REGISTERED NURSE, PACU, Per Diem

Responsibilities

  • Function in PACU environment and provide direct patient care to infant through geriatric patient populations, addressing psychosocial, physical, and general aspects related to the surgical environment.
  • Assist with the maintenance of PHA and PACU equipment and inventory.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients undergoing surgical, pain management, and endoscopic procedures.
  • Monitor patient’s physiological status in the immediate postoperative environment.
  • Communicate with surgeon and anesthesiologist immediately and as needed about patient condition; receive direction for patient management.
  • Intercede to maintain optimum homeostasis.
  • Show proficiency in pain management guidelines and medication dosing.
  • Maintain regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards.
  • Demonstrate supportive behaviors necessary for performing bedside report using IMAP & SBAR.
  • Perform head‑to‑toe pre‑procedure assessment on all patients and reassess post‑procedure as needed.
  • Formulate individualized plan of care and evaluate for effectiveness.
  • Assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain‑management techniques.
  • Educate patient and family regarding pain management.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN‑approved RN program.
  • Current Nevada nursing license.
  • Current BLS certificate.
  • Prefer one year full‑time or three years part‑time experience in acute care PACU setting.
  • Current ACLS required.
  • Handle with Care (or obtained within six months of employment) in required speciality.
  • Must successfully pass any pre‑employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
