Health​/Human Services Professional Trainee - Underfill

Rural Clinics (RC) has an opening for a full‑time Health/Human Services Professional Trainee underfill for a Psychiatric Caseworker 2 in various Nevada clinics (Carson City, Ely, Tonopah, Fernley, or Fallon).

Rural Clinics provides an array of outpatient behavioral health services for both adults and children in 16 clinics located in 12 counties across Rural Nevada. Services run Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The role evaluates individuals’ needs for medical, educational, social, vocational, financial, transportation, and housing services, monitors consumer and provider progress toward care plan goals, and makes referrals in accordance with regulations and agency procedures.

Knowledge of state and federal housing and residential requirements and participation in related agency and clinic meetings is required. The position also provides rehabilitative mental health (RMH) services, including basic skills training (BST) and psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR), as prescribed by licensed personnel and as outlined in the State Medicaid Services Manual Chapter 400.

A bachelor’s degree in a related field such as sociology, psychology, or human development is required. The position is an entry‑level trainee class that, under immediate supervision, will receive on‑the‑job training and may be eligible for automatic advancement to an entry‑level professional health/human services class within the same occupational group.

• Perform technical and/or paraprofessional work to build a foundation of theoretical and experiential knowledge.
• Execute duties closely monitored by a journey‑level professional or supervisor.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Monitor progress toward care plan goals and make referrals as required.
• Partake in agency and clinic meetings.

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, early childhood development, psychology, public health, special education, nursing, or another discipline directly related to the field of training, OR two years of journey‑level technical or paraprofessional experience in the same field.
• Working knowledge of problem‑solving techniques, research techniques, and basic mathematics.
• Ability to write grammatically correct correspondence, read and understand technical information, communicate verbally with clients and staff, analyze problems, and interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
