Civil / Geotechnical Inspector
Joe Knows Energy is seeking a Civil / Geotechnical Inspector to support gas and electric utility infrastructure projects throughout the Orange & Rockland service territory. We are looking for someone with strong field experience in civil construction, soils, foundations, excavation, grading, or geotechnical oversight who wants to play a meaningful role in improving quality, safety, and execution in the field.
This role supports critical utility infrastructure projects, including substations, duct banks, vaults, foundations, trenching, grading, and site development activities. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being in the field, solving problems, working closely with crews and contractors, and ensuring work is completed the right way.
We are looking for applicants whose commute would be less than 1 hour one way from Orange and Rockland counties. There is no per diem with this position; therefore, you must live within the preferred commute or be willing to relocate.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough inspections of gas and electric utility infrastructure to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and safety regulations.
- Document findings and prepare detailed reports on the quality and progress of construction activities.
- Collaborate with project teams to address and resolve any issues or discrepancies identified during inspections.
- Monitor construction sites to ensure adherence to environmental requirements and utility standards.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to guide inspection processes.
- Provide clear, actionable feedback to contractors and project managers to facilitate improvements and compliance.
- Ensure all construction activities align with client expectations and project timelines, maintaining open communication channels with stakeholders.
- Experience in civil construction, geotechnical inspection, utility construction, site development, soils testing, or related field work. Ability to document findings and prepare detailed reports on construction activities, showcasing your attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proven track record of collaborating effectively with project teams to resolve issues and discrepancies identified during inspections.
- Familiarity with monitoring construction sites to ensure adherence to environmental requirements and utility standards.
- Competence in reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to guide inspection processes.
- Strong communication skills to provide clear, actionable feedback to contractors and project managers, facilitating improvements and compliance.
- Capability to ensure all construction activities align with client expectations and project timelines, maintaining open communication channels with stakeholders.
