Job Specification
The Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing a variety of financial tasks, including preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, handling accounts payable and receivable, audits, as well as special projects as needed. This role ensures the organization's financial health by performing key tasks such as fixed asset management, inventory control, and month-end close processes. The Accountant also plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, supporting the overall financial strategy and decision‑making of the business.
Above all, this person understands that these principal accountabilities listed below will evolve, as the department adapts to a constantly changing environment.
- Oversee the expense reporting system, including setting up new employees and exporting data for journal entries and other reporting as necessary.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding the expense reporting system.
- Reconcile and record transactions from the expense system monthly.
- Responsible for fixed asset functions, including reconciliations, additions, disposals, scrapping, and adjustments.
- Ensure proper tracking and capitalization of assets, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Assist with inventory functions, ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation of stock levels.
- Perform WIP reconciliations, ensuring proper billing and accurate capitalization of assets.
- Maintain accurate records of project costs, ensuring that costs are accurately tracked throughout project life cycles.
- Conduct new customer credit checks and references to assess credit worthiness.
- Assist in the AR/Billing process to ensure timely revenue accruals and customer invoicing as needed
- Provide required data and documentation during different audit processes throughout the year
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including, but not limited to, accounts receivable (AR) invoice uploads, AR accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and other necessary adjustments.
- Reconcile month-end balances, ensuring the accuracy of financial data and timely reporting.
- Prepare other month-end related processes as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel and Word, including advanced functions such as pivot tables, v-lookups, and data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations, including experience with VAT
- Proficiency in accounting software (SAGE Peachtree) is a plus
- Experience with intercompany transactions and reporting across multiple entities is a plus.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
