Senior Automotive Technician – Sun Auto Tire & Service

Hours:

$25.00/Hr. – $45.00/Hr. (flag rate), depending on experience and certifications.

• Diagnose vehicles according to appropriate certifications/experience.
• Perform work as outlined on the multi‑point inspection and/or repair order with efficiency and accuracy.
• Perform complex and heavy‑duty repairs.
• Explain technical diagnosis and needed repairs to non‑mechanical individuals, which may include the store manager, service consultants and/or customers.
• Recommend services that are necessary to keep the customer’s vehicle in running condition; properly document all recommendations in customer file.
• Follow all safety procedures and report any concerns to direct supervisor.
• Work flexible schedules, including weekends as needed;
  Sundays are not scheduled.

• Previous automotive technician/mechanic experience required.
• ASE certifications in lieu of experience.
• Ability to demonstrate proper use of computerized diagnostic equipment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess state inspector license or ability to obtain a state inspector license within 30 days of hire date (if applicable).
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school experience preferred.

The Senior Automotive Technician will be exposed to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous and non‑hazardous materials. The temperature in the work environment varies and could include extreme heat and/or extreme cold.

• Stand up to eight hours per day in the shop and able to walk to gain access to various areas of the building.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch regularly. Must have full range of motion with arms and hands and be able to feel, handle or lift objects frequently.
• Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly; lift and/or move up to 70 pounds frequently.
• Communicate with customers and shop personnel.
• Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and re‑focus.
