What We’re Looking ForWe are seeking a Director of Construction Design with the expertise to translate complex concepts into fully realized high‑quality-built environments. This role requires a leader who excels at taking a creative vision and converting it into technical precision. A team member who is motivated by seeing well‑executed designs move from planning to completion.
In this position, you will guide the development of land, structures, and outdoor spaces by applying strong design principles, engineering knowledge, and a commitment to delivering exceptional project outcomes.
What You Will Do- Develop site plans, specs, and cost estimates for land development
- Prepare detailed construction drawings and technical documents builders can trust
- Manage team of construction plan drafters to maintain alignment and quality
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to elevate design and construction of projects
- Analyze site conditions including drainage, environmental factors, and layout constraints
- Assist and coordinate the permitting processes for projects
- Manage subconsultant designers to maintain alignment and quality
- Research new products
- Develop planting plans that balance aesthetics and function
- Coordinate with internal estimators and sales coordinators on bids and project costing
- A bachelor’s degree in architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred; however, strong relevant experience may be considered an equivalent qualification
- Extensive experience in architectural design or construction design management
- Proven leadership managing teams and external consultants
- Strong understanding of drafting principles, construction methods, and building systems
- Solid knowledge of building codes, permitting, and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools, and project management software
- Ability to interpret complex drawings and technical documents with precision
- Possession of a professional engineer or landscape architect license is considered an asset
This position operates in a mixed office and field environment, with time split between administrative responsibilities, training delivery, and onsite service oversight. Exposure to typical construction and service‑related hazards. Regular collaboration with construction teams, sales, and customer stakeholders.
