Job Description & How to Apply Below
Description
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and adaptable Internal Medicine Physician to join our urgent care team. In this role, you will provide episodic, high-quality, and efficient care to adult and adolescent patients presenting with acute, non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries. While your training is rooted in the management of complex, chronic conditions, your expertise will be leveraged to differentiate between benign acute presentations and high-acuity medical emergencies, ensuring safe and comprehensive disposition.
Qualifications- Education:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution. - Residency:
Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in Internal Medicine. - Board Certification:
Board Certified or Board Eligible (with plans to sit for exams) in Internal Medicine. - Licensure:
Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of practice. - Certifications:
Active DEA registration and current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification. PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) is a plus if the clinic serves pediatric populations. - Skills:
Strong clinical acumen in acute care, excellent bedside manner, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Proficiency with modern EHR systems is required.
- Acute Patient Care:
Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute medical conditions, including respiratory infections, gastrointestinal distress, minor fractures, lacerations, urinary tract infections, and allergic reactions. - Chronic Disease Exacerbations:
Manage acute presentations of chronic diseases (e.g., COPD flares, hypertensive urgency, mild asthma exacerbations, diabetic complications) and stabilize patients for outpatient follow-up or transfer. - Minor Procedures:
Perform standard urgent care procedures, including laceration repair (suturing/stapling), abscess incision and drainage, splinting, foreign body removal, and basic eye exams (fluorescein staining). - Diagnostic Interpretation:
Interpret point-of-care laboratory tests, ECGs, and digital X‑rays to formulate immediate treatment plans. - Patient Disposition & Safety:
Accurately triage and determine appropriate patient disposition, identifying when a patient requires immediate transfer to an Emergency Department versus safe discharge with primary care follow-up. - Collaborative Leadership:
Lead and support a multidisciplinary clinic team, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical assistants, and radiology technologists. - Documentation:
Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough electronic health records (EHR) compliant with billing, coding, and medical-legal standards.
- Setting:
Outpatient urgent care clinic with on-site lab and digital X‑ray capabilities. - Schedule:
Full-time or part-time options available. Shifts may include weekdays, evenings, and rotating weekends. No overnight call responsibilities.
