SUMMARYThe John Cooper School is currently seeking a Upper School Spanish Teacher.
The John Cooper School, located in The Woodlands, TX, on a beautiful 40-acre campus with a total enrollment of 1,300 students, is an independent, coeducational college preparatory day school serving students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. The Upper School (Grades 9-12) is a dynamic, caring, and collegial environment that fosters curiosity and joy in our learners.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Teach Spanish courses in the Upper School World Languages Department; courses may include Spanish 1
-2- 3 with an emphasis on oral proficiency - Advisor to a small group of Upper School students.
- Strong commitment to students’ progress, success, and social-emotional well-being
- Commitment to student-centered pedagogies and authentic assessments
- Knowledge of current best practices in Upper School education
- Demonstrated proficiency (speaking, writing, reading, listening) in Spanish.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and desire to approach planning and innovation in a team environment
- Model lifelong learning for students with an openness to and enthusiasm for learning and professional growth
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues
- Strong organizational skills
- Required to walk; stoop, kneel or crouch; reach with hands and arms
- Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 90% walking, and standing
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
- Classroom work environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish education or related field is required;
Master’s degree preferred - Minimum of three (3) years applicable classroom teaching experience; independent school experience preferred
