JOB TITLE: Bilingual Elementary Teacher

REPORTS TO: Principal

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt

PAY GRADE: Teacher Salary Scale

PRIMARY

PURPOSE:

The Bilingual Elementary Teacher is responsible for implementing the District’s instructional program and educational philosophy in the subject area or grade level designated in accordance with District goals, policies and procedures.

All employees of Spring ISD are expected to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate in a clear and respectful manner, championing the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate in grade levels assigned

Preferred:

  • One year experience of student teaching or approved internship

  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Teach in accordance with staff assignment.
  • Display effective teaching practices, including completing effective lesson plans with immediate and long‑range goals, developing lessons appropriately, using time effectively, choosing appropriate materials and activities, presenting subject matter clearly and interestingly, coordinating and planning with team members, and planning with librarian to provide effective library experience for students.
  • Administer classroom to create an environment conducive to learning, organizing procedures for effective classroom management, organizing the assigned area efficiently, providing flexibility for individual and group activities, practicing positive discipline techniques that help students gain self‑control and responsibility, and maintaining a positive, accepting attitude in working with students.
  • Cooperate with school personnel in providing for student welfare, supervising behavior and safety of students in and between classes and during school‑related activities on and off campus, working with counselors, administrators, parents and other staff members to place students in the most effective educational setting, instructing students in school safety and emergency drill procedures, and participating in special activities and programs provided for students and parents.
  • Initiate communications with parents, informing them about programs for students, making parents aware if problems arise, and keeping parents informed about student progress.
  • Cooperate with appropriate program directors, administer an appropriate record‑keeping system, maintaining accurate records for student evaluation and progress, attendance, textbooks, materials, and funds provided by the District, parent contacts, conferences, disciplinary measures and referrals to other school personnel, and meeting required record‑keeping format and timelines effectively.
  • Exemplify professionalism in behavior and performance, cooperate with staff and administrators, work with team leaders and principal to benefit from evaluation by using strengths and improving areas of needs, create a positive attitude toward the teaching profession, promote understanding of District programs and policies, remain current in education and the specific areas of instruction through literature, workshops, conferences, professional organizations and college courses, adhere to the Texas Education Code of Ethics and support the District’s philosophy.

Working Conditions

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment.
