Job Title: Bilingual Pre-Kindergarten Aide, Elementary School

Reports To: Campus Principal

Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Grade: Para 1

The Bilingual Pre-Kindergarten Aide is responsible for assisting the teacher in the supervision and instruction of bilingual pre-kindergarten students.

• HS Diploma from an accredited institution
• Independent School District’s NCLB test in the area of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics (Tests are administered after the recommendation for hire) and must obtain an Educational Aide Certification
• Completion of at least two years of study at an institution or higher defined as 48 hours of college coursework
• Must obtain Educational Aide Certification
• Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish proficiently

• 1 year job-related experience

• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to correspond (written and oral) in English and their home language

• Assist teacher in implementing lesson plans.
• Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist teacher in maintenance of classroom equipment, student files and records.
• Assist teacher in conferring with parents and appropriate personnel for the purpose of evaluating students’ progress.
• Assist teacher with translations when needed.
• Provide orientation and assistance to the substitute teacher when the bilingual PK teacher is absent.
• Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job may require prolonged periods of sitting, moderate standing, stooping, bending, reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. May require some lifting no more than 10lbs. Overtime is required as necessary.
