Position Summary

The Student Support Specialist will serve to increase academic achievement and reduce dropout rate of “at‑risk” students. The Specialist works under dual reporting to the Campus Principal and the District RtI Coordinator, providing coordinated, strength‑based supports to help students succeed.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Monitor coding of “at‑risk” student information with administrators for demographics and special programs.
  • Lead the Collaborative Student Support Team and process.
  • Monitor students within the Collaborative Student Support Process for academic and behavioral progress.
  • Determine appropriate interventions for at‑risk students.
  • Maintain records of student progress, interventions, programs (individualized/differentiated) and instructional strategies.
  • Conduct data analysis of student performance to guide the team and Professional Learning Teams.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop whole‑group, small‑group interventions, and individualized learning activities.
  • Support teachers in differentiating instruction for students with unique learning profiles.
  • Assist teachers with tracking data to assess intervention effectiveness.
  • Assist teachers with instructional strategies to close the achievement gap for at‑risk students.
  • Support monitoring of at‑risk student populations including English Language Learners, pre‑kindergarten, disciplined, and repeat‑failure students for continuous growth.
  • Train teachers to analyze and use student achievement data.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development to support the collaborative student support process.
  • Assist the campus with state and federal compliance.
  • Provide additional academic intervention supports as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification.
Preferred
  • Five years of classroom experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of state and federal accountability.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of state assessments.
  • Knowledge of district curriculum.
  • Knowledge of district behavior management system.
  • Detail oriented and able to handle deadline pressures.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Quality oral presentation and written report skills.
Working Conditions

Physical demands include mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. The position requires travel within the district and statewide. Mental demands include solving problems, interpreting data and policies, applying research and theory, effective communication, and maintaining emotional control under stress.

Professional Status

Exempt;
Pay Grade A12;
Full‑time.

Compensation

Base salary range: $66,105 – $79,645 depending on experience, based on 2025‑2026 Pay Scale.

Funding

Position funded by federal and/or state grants and is contingent upon the availability of full funding; employment may be terminated or not renewed if funding becomes unavailable.
