College Access & Success Coach Opportunity – Spring, TX
We are seeking a passionate and student-centered College Access & Success Coach to support high school students and alumni as they transition into postsecondary education and career pathways, with a strong focus on STEM, engineering, and technology fields.
This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about college access, educational equity, student mentorship, and helping first‑generation and underrepresented students achieve long-term success.
About the OpportunityKey Responsibilities Student Advising & College Access
- Provide one‑on‑one and group advising on college selection, applications, admissions requirements, and enrollment processes.
- Support students with FAFSA/TASFA completion, scholarship applications, and financial aid planning.
- Guide students toward STEM, engineering, and technology academic pathways.
- Help students understand financial aid packages and prepare for the transition to college.
- Design and facilitate workshops on college applications and admissions.
- Personal statements and interview preparation.
- Financial literacy and budgeting.
- Time management and college success skills.
- Coordinate college visits, virtual tours, and information sessions.
- Build partnerships with colleges, universities, and scholarship organizations.
- Provide resources and workshops for parents and guardians.
- Partner with families, schools, colleges, and community organizations to support student success.
- Serve as a trusted resource throughout the college planning process.
- Maintain ongoing communication with program alumni.
- Support students through the transition from high school to college.
- Track enrollment, FAFSA renewal, academic standing, credit completion, and financial aid status.
- Identify barriers to persistence and connect students with appropriate resources.
- Lead summer melt prevention efforts and alumni engagement programming.
- Maintain accurate records of student advising, applications, scholarships, and enrollment outcomes.
- Track key college access and persistence metrics.
- Contribute to program reporting, evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 3+ years of direct experience in college advising, college access, or student success programs.
- Strong knowledge of college admissions, financial aid, and scholarship processes.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship‑building skills.
- Experience supporting first‑generation and diverse student populations.
- Familiarity with STEM, engineering, or technology pathways is highly preferred.
- Passion for student success and educational equity.
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and advising skills.
- Excellent communication and workshop facilitation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and student caseloads.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and resourceful mindset.
- Commitment to helping students achieve long‑term educational and career success.
- Based in Houston, TX.
- Occasional travel to local colleges, universities, schools, and community events.
- Some evening and weekend availability required for workshops, family sessions, and special events.
