Reports To: Campus Principal (and works closely with MCL)

Primary Purpose

Reach Associates (RAs) are advanced paraprofessionals who support Multi-Classroom Leaders (MCLs) on Opportunity Culture campuses. They work closely with teachers to complete tasks such as classroom support, supervision of student behavior, and assistance in instructional activities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 48 earned college credits
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Three years of experience in a K-12 school setting

Preferred:

  • Educational Aide Certificate
  • Seeking a Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • Bilingual
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Relationship-centered – Able to work effectively with people who have different cultural backgrounds and/or personal characteristics
  • Knowledge of the subject matter being taught
Major Responsibilities and Duties

Classroom and School Environment

  • Hold students accountable for high expectations of behavior and engagement that are ambitious and measurable
  • Contribute to a culture of respect, enthusiasm, and rapport
  • Manage student behavior during transitions and less structured time (e.g., recess, lunch)
  • Monitor independent work time in the classroom while the teacher provides instruction

Instruction (if applicable)

  • Tutor small groups and individuals
  • Supervise projects, skill practice, and digital learning

Professional Responsibilities

  • Solicit and receive feedback from supervisor and team members to improve professional skills
  • Maintain administrative duties on behalf of the teacher (e.g., taking attendance, entering grades, scheduling parent conferences, preparing student activities and assignments, checking homework, and additional paperwork)
  • Collaborate with teacher(s), tutor(s), and digital lab monitor(s), when applicable
  • Participate in professional development opportunities
  • Communicate with parents under the guidance of the Multi-Classroom Leader
Working Conditions

The position requires physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. It also involves traveling within the district and statewide. Mental demands include problem solving, interpreting data and policy, effective communication, and maintaining emotional control under stress. A flexible schedule with after‑hour events is required.

Special Funding

This position is funded by federal and/or state grants. Employment is conditioned on full funding availability and may be terminated or reassigned if funding becomes unavailable.

Federal Time and Effort Reporting

The employee is assigned 100% to the federal and state program responsibilities and duties stated in this job description.
