Job Summary
Job Summary: The Senior Engineer III (Electrical & Instrumentation) is responsible for managing, coordinating, and leading the EPC E&I department for terminal/facility projects within the midstream oil & gas markets. This role involves planning and executing E&I tasks and activities, developing and maintaining client relationships, resource loading, proposal preparation, and supervising a team of E&I designers, drafters, and engineers.
Primary Job Function- Coordinate E&I team workloads to ensure project deliverables are completed within scope, budget, and schedule, adhering to local, client, and industry requirements and specifications.
- Oversee department resource loading, scheduling, and execution, ensuring quality outputs.
- Independently evaluates, selects, and applies engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to concurrent engineering projects.
- Plan preliminary layouts with designers using engineering notes, field sketches, and other relevant documentation.
- Review E&I packages, calculations, and deliverables for compliance with Strike QA/QC procedures.
- Develop, organize, and maintain all facets of E&I deliverables from start to finish including but not limited to Bill of Material, Cable & Conduit schedule, Area Classification, Grounding, Lighting, One Line, Cause & Effect, Network Architecture, Control Loop Diagrams, Control System Block Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Instrument Data Sheets, Instrument Index, I/O List, Plan Drawings, and Installation Details.
- Review and provide inputs to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs).
- Visit client sites for bid walkdowns and to obtain field dimensions and information as needed.
- Coordinate scope with subcontractors for specialized E&I tasks (e.g., instrument calibration, electrical testing).
- Provide procurement review and validation for equipment and instrumentation for EPC projects.
- Develop E&I man-hour and deliverable estimates for proposals.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and PMT team members to achieve project goals as directed by Project Managers and Department Directors.
- Oversee development and training programs for the team.
- Catalog and routinely assess all required E&I software and tools.
- Minimum 10+ years of terminal and/or midstream facility engineering and design experience, specializing in electrical and instrumentation engineering and design.
- Field experience with project walkdowns, field sketching, and troubleshooting E&I systems.
- Application of industry standards such as NEC, IEEE, ISA, API, and PIP (Process Industry Practices).
- Experience developing all facets of E&I deliverables from start to finish.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or Engineering Technology required;
Master’s degree is a plus. - Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas required.
- Familiarity with design and specification of EGM buildings, bus stops, flow meters, pressure transmitters, and temperature transmitters is required.
- Experience with electrical and instrumentation analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or similar) is preferred.
- Demonstrates flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem-solving.
- Proven time management and follow-through skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
- Ability to train and develop E&I designers, drafters, engineers, standards, and policies.
- Works both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; effective listening skills.
- Professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills, able to work with diverse personnel.
- Lead and participate in detailed discussions with clients and vendors to support services provided by the company.
- Experience supporting construction activities and providing quick, sensible solutions to field issues.
- Experience providing commissioning support to prepare systems for handover to operations.
- Demonstrated competency in managing people and teams.
- Complies with Strike’s policies and procedures.
- Ability to work flexible hours, occasionally in excess of a normal schedule.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
