What role you will play in our team- We are looking for experienced Engineering Professionals who will serve as the local technical authority on machinery and rotating equipment and provide day to day technical support, troubleshooting, and long-term reliability improvement initiatives. Machinery Engineer will provide technical and operational support for machinery troubleshooting and optimization, enhancing the machinery fleet health, maintenance effectiveness, and overall system reliability.
- The role is a centralized support role, responsible for supporting various Business Teams in the Houston, Midland, Chicago, and Baton Rouge areas.
- The job is located in Spring, Texas.
- Responsible for providing design, engineering, and project management support for machinery and rotating equipment.
- Apply understanding of asset operations to develop and deliver sound technical support.
- Support machinery technology needs for project development from concept selection through commissioning and startup, and/or all phases of asset operational life of machinery and machinery auxiliary systems.
- Design, implement, interpret, and steward condition monitoring programs including vibration, lubricating oil analysis, and process signatures.
- Provide ad-hoc support to significant machinery failure investigations by supporting the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and/or Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
- Interface directly with process data (SEEQ) and SAP maintenance data to evaluate machinery health, maintenance effectiveness, and equipment bad actors.
- Leverage technical mentors, machinery networks and communities of practice to share learnings, improve machinery skills, and identify opportunities to improve work processes.
- Document completed efforts such that others can leverage their work to enable efficient future efforts.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to site leaders, supervisors, and specialists to influence and improve operation and maintenance of machinery fleet.
- Depending on work location and area of responsibility, position involves between 30% and 50% of time outside the office working with Operations personnel at field operating locations. A portion of the field work may involve travel via car and plane and overnight stays.
Skills and Qualifications
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ years with industrial rotating equipment experience
- Excellent analytical skills and technical understanding of the principles of rotating machinery and the behavior of different types of machines including pumps, turbines, compressors, and motors
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, design drawings, equipment schematics, and more
