Job DescriptionThe Project Controls Lead is responsible for establishing and executing comprehensive project controls strategies across cost, schedule, progress measurement, estimating, and change management. This role provides leadership and expertise to ensure projects are delivered with financial discipline, schedule integrity, and strong governance. The Project Controls Lead works closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to support informed decision-making, drive capital efficiency, and maintain alignment with project management best practices.
Responsibilities- Lead overall project controls activities, including cost control, scheduling, progress measurement, estimating, forecasting, and management of change
- Develop and maintain the Project Controls Plan and Management of Change (MOC) Plan
- Establish and lead monthly cost and schedule stewardship reviews
- Coordinate estimating, planning, and cost control priorities across project teams
- Prepare and maintain key controls deliverables, including:
- Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS)
- Original and Current Control Budgets
- Project Master Schedule
- Planning and budgeting forecasts
- Collect, analyze, and report project cost and schedule data to assess project status and identify risks
- Administer and facilitate the Management of Change process
- Support capital efficiency, opportunities, and vulnerabilities reviews
- Interface with financial and controls teams on budgets, cost reporting, work-in-place, and forecasting
- Participate in bid evaluations and development of contract price budgets, schedules, and milestones
- Review and endorse contractor cost, schedule, progress baselines, forecasts, and change proposals
- Monitor contractor performance related to cost control, progress measurement, and schedule control
- Support development and implementation of corrective actions and recovery plans
- Coordinate preparation for project reviews, funding approvals, and stage gate activities
- Support close‑out reporting and final project controls documentation
- Manage and mentor project controls engineers and planners
- Ensure functional alignment and approval of key project controls deliverables
- Respond to ad‑hoc project controls and reporting requests from project leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management (required)
- Prior experience in project controls with demonstrated focus on cost and schedule control
- Supervisory or team leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of project controls systems, methodologies, and best practices
- Experience supporting contractor oversight and governance for cost and schedule controls
- Strong analytical, influencing, mentoring, and problem‑solving skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Point
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to time‑sensitive requests
- Adaptability to changing project conditions and priorities
- Willingness to work in a team‑based environment and relocate or work internationally as required
Pay:
Level I is $56/hr, Level II is $85/hr, Level III is $102/hr
