The Regulatory Permit Specialist performs a variety of duties, technical and administrative tasks, and customer relations functions in support of city, country, and railroad permit processes along with Corps of Engineers permitting requirements.
Essential Tasks And Responsibilities- Ensures that permits are acquired correctly and promptly.
- Communicates directly with the client regarding agreement language, compensation, insurance requirements, bonds, and long‑lead items.
- Collaborates with other permit agents, survey crew, drill crew, and recording crew to maximize efficiencies.
- Participates in the permit project start‑up meetings to gain an absolute understanding of all topics discussed.
- Completes all necessary paperwork.
- Researches ownership for surface and/or minerals.
- Negotiates and acquires necessary surface and/or mineral permits for crew access.
- Works directly with the project manager, project engineers, and surveyors to receive necessary documents such as calculations, pipeline specifications, and exhibits.
- Supports surveying, drilling, and recording phases, ensuring permit stipulations are followed and addressing problems as they arise.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
- Bachelor’s degree or experience equivalent to a four‑year degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledgeable about survey drawings, engineering drawings, and alignment sheets.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaborate fully as a team player.
- Attention to detail and strong planning, organization, and time‑management skills.
- Willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance as per the agreed work schedule (may require an adjusted schedule and overtime).
- Ability to comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Spends a mixture of time in an office and field environment.
- Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
