We are seeking a Process Engineer to play a key role within Genera’s Innovation Center. In this dynamic position, you will support a wide range of projects involving thermoformed fiber prototype production, pulp additive testing, product testing, and process improvement initiatives that support our growing thermoformed fiber manufacturing operations.
We are looking for individuals with a background in chemical engineering or materials science who are eager to learn new skills, highly detail oriented, and capable of thriving in a collaborative, fast paced environment. Experience in pulp and paper manufacturing or injection molding/thermoformed plastics is a plus.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong problem solving abilities, technical curiosity, adaptability, and a hands on approach to engineering challenges. Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in all aspects of the thermoformed fiber prototyping process, including operating prototype equipment, preparing fiber and additives, and troubleshooting machine operation.
- Perform material testing using basic laboratory equipment to evaluate material density, stiffness, liquid resistance, and other critical product performance characteristics.
- Support the manufacturing of aluminum, plastic, and 3D printed thermoforming tools, including machining operations and 3D printer setup.
- Assist engineers and maintenance personnel with basic maintenance activities on prototype equipment, CNC machines, and 3D printers.
- Participate in troubleshooting and problem solving activities related to new product design, prototype development, and implementation of process improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, paper science, materials science, or related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing, product development, or related technical roles.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, pilot plant, laboratory, or prototyping environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent problem solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word.
- Experience with thermoforming, pulp and paper processes, polymers, CNC equipment, CAD software, or 3D printing is a plus.
- Ability to work safely in laboratory and manufacturing environments and lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
