Scope / Overview
The Facilities Engineer / Specialist III is responsible for evaluating, reviewing, and supporting engineering work performed internally and by contractors to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role facilitates the effective execution of engineering and design activities, supports facility performance improvement initiatives, participates in risk management activities, and provides technical leadership across facility operations and projects. The position requires strong technical engineering expertise combined with effective communication, facilitation, and mentoring skills.
Main Functions
  • Evaluate and provide technical review of engineering work performed by internal teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with company standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support execution of engineering and design routines aligned with business objectives and operational goals.
  • Facilitate communication between engineering teams and other business functions regarding project status, issues, and progress.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on facility engineering matters.
  • Support safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Participate in Area Risk Assessments, HAZOPs, Hazard Hunts, and Critical Operating Parameter Reviews.
  • Lead investigations related to facility downtime, process safety incidents, and operational failures.
  • Identify operational improvement opportunities and develop project scopes of work.
  • Conduct risk assessments for new facility projects and existing operating facilities.
  • Drive closure of mitigation action items resulting from risk reviews and assessments.
  • Lead facility performance testing and plant-based operational trials.
  • Develop and maintain operating guidelines and facility procedures.
  • Support facility optimization and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and peers.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and operational support.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline,
    or equivalent professional experience
    .
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering design standards, specifications, applicable codes, and safety requirements.
  • Strong understanding of facility operations, process safety, and engineering risk management.
  • Experience participating in or leading HAZOPs, risk assessments, and process safety reviews.
  • Experience leading incident investigations and developing corrective actions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Oil & Gas upstream, midstream, processing, or facility operations experience.
  • Experience supporting facility projects, debottlenecking, optimization, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Experience developing operating procedures and facility operating guidelines.
  • Demonstrated mentoring and leadership experience.
  • Strong background in process safety management and facility reliability programs.
Notes
  • Must be able to effectively communicate technical information across multiple functional groups.
  • Candidate should be comfortable working within changing priorities and demanding operational environments.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Local or regional candidates preferred due to Spring, TX work location.
