About This RolePower Engineering Services, a Quanta Services Company, is looking for an Electrical Designer with a strong background in high‑voltage substation design for electric utilities. In this role, you will work alongside engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver substation projects from concept through detailed design for utilities, contractors, and developers.

What You'll Do- Develop 2D and 3D substation design packages for HV substations, including:
- Single‑line diagrams
- Physical substation layouts
- Conduit and cable plans
- Grounding grid plans and details
- Lightning protection and yard lighting plans
- Bills of materials
- Collaborate with engineers and other design disciplines to produce coordinated, high‑quality design packages.
- Incorporate engineering feedback, redlines, and design revisions into project deliverables.
- Interpret and apply client specifications, industry codes, and design standards.
- Ensure drawings and documentation comply with company, client, and project drafting standards.
- Maintain organized project files, drawing revisions, and design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology or a related technical discipline
- 4+ years of experience designing 15kV–345kV utility substations
- Working knowledge of IEEE and ANSI standards related to substation design
- Proficiency with AutoCAD (required); experience with Micro Station is a plus
- Strong understanding of substation physical design and drafting practices
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- A willingness to learn new software and continually develop technical skills
