Nexus Children's Hospital – The Woodlands is home to nationally recognized programs serving adolescents and young adults with complex medical, behavioral, and developmental needs. Our multidisciplinary approach integrates medical care, rehabilitation, behavioral services, nutrition, and family support to help patients achieve meaningful outcomes in a structured and supportive environment.

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides behavior analytic assessment, treatment planning, and intervention services for young adult patients with neurodevelopmental, behavioral, and complex medical diagnoses. This role emphasizes evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, family engagement, and data-driven clinical decision-making to support positive behavioral outcomes and improved quality of life.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and skill-based assessments.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Utilize evidence-based behavioral interventions consistent with current BACB standards and best practices.
  • Monitor treatment fidelity and adjust interventions based on objective behavioral data.
  • Develop and update behavioral treatment goals within interdisciplinary treatment plans.
  • Integrate behavioral, developmental, medical, and psychosocial considerations into treatment planning.
  • Apply trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches to care.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Supervise and provide clinical guidance to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and support staff.
  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging research and best practices in behavior analysis.
  • Foster a compassionate, person-centered approach that respects the values and preferences of patients and families.
  • Provide caregiver and family education, training, and ongoing support.
  • Develop individualized family training plans to promote skill generalization and continuity of care.
  • Support discharge planning and successful transitions to community-based settings.
  • Advocate for individuals with neurodevelopmental and behavioral disabilities across healthcare and community environments.
  • Ensure compliance with BACB Ethics Code, HIPAA regulations, payer requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, and internal audits.
  • Monitor behavioral outcomes and program metrics to guide clinical decision-making.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Complete all required continuing education and competency requirements.
  • Maintain BCBA certification in good standing.
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, peer consultation, and professional development activities.
  • Stay current with advances in behavior analytic practice and healthcare regulations.
  • Promote responsible use of hospital resources while maintaining exceptional patient care.
  • Collaborate with administrative teams to support authorization, billing, and documentation processes.
  • Monitor productivity and service utilization benchmarks.
  • Contribute to program growth and sustainability through efficient service delivery.
