Job DescriptionThe Operations Technician is responsible for operating wells and associated equipment in accordance with established operating and safety procedures. This role supports daily operational plans by ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient production while minimizing equipment downtime and optimizing resource utilization. The position requires continuous surveillance of wells and equipment, active participation in safety and emergency response programs, and coordination with maintenance and well intervention teams to maintain production integrity.
Responsibilities- Operate wells and equipment in accordance with established operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Execute daily operational objectives, including housekeeping, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
- Actively participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Monitor wells and equipment to identify and implement corrective and optimization actions.
- Perform basic maintenance activities as part of equipment care responsibilities.
- Coordinate and monitor maintenance activities in line with corrective, predictive, and preventive plans.
- Immediately report alarms, emergency shutdown systems, or safety systems that are out of service.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logbook entries of operational events, deviations, and abnormal conditions.
- Provide clear and thorough shift handovers to ensure operational continuity.
- Collect product samples and conduct field laboratory testing as required.
- Participate in emergency response activities and report incidents in accordance with reporting guidelines.
- Communicate operational activities and concerns to the Operations Shift Supervisor.
- Maintain strong communication within the team to ensure issues are properly addressed.
- Provide accurate information regarding well performance, production rates, and well conditions.
- Conduct thorough well diagnostics prior to requesting well intervention activities.
- Ensure wellhead and surface equipment are in proper working order before well intervention operations begin.
- Provide support to wellwork and intervention operations as needed.
- Completed secondary education.
- Prior experience as a Field Technician or in a related operational role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental standards.
- Extensive knowledge of pipeline operations.
- Strong understanding of safety and operations management systems and processes.
- Knowledge of Emergency Preparedness procedures and response protocols.
- Familiarity with project design philosophy and operational specifications.
- Working knowledge of applicable regulations and compliance requirements.
- Understanding of relevant commercial agreements.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain operational discipline.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills related to well performance and equipment operation.
Pay: $56 per hour
