Plasma Center Medical Support Specialist - Paramedic

Position Overview

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reporting to the Plasma Center Manager, supporting plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager or Assistant Manager and under the medical oversight of the Center Physician. Responsible for ensuring donor eligibility, safety, and adherence to industry regulations.

• Determine donor eligibility, manage informed consent, conduct medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, and review serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
• Manage donor adverse events and review laboratory test results, notifying donors of unsuitable test results.
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and coordination of donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents, determining whether further evaluation by occupational health or ER is required, and consult EHS guidance regarding incidents.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats in the local community.

• High‑school diploma or equivalent to a graduate‑equivalent recognized nursing program with state requirements.
• Licensed or certified as an EMT‑Paramedic in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Completion of state‑required basic IV therapy training.
• Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

• Hourly wage range: $22.80 – $31.35 (U.S. – TX – Spring).
