Veterinary Technician – Emergency and Critical Care
Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Spring, TX is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.
About the RoleThe Veterinary Technician role offers an exciting, fast‑paced opportunity to utilize and expand your clinical skills while working alongside talented veterinary professionals.
Responsibilities- Induce, monitor and recover patients from anesthesia using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
- Triage emergency cases upon arrival, taking vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
- Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
- Understand normal ranges for patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
- Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting the veterinarian to changes and issues.
- Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
- Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
- Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.
- Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
- Mentor and train other co‑workers.
- Display patience and empathy when addressing client concerns.
