Cake Decorator

As a Cake Decorator, you'll apply proper decorating techniques and maintain quality of products by following guidelines. You'll prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product on a daily basis, while maintaining all department and food safety / sanitation standards. Key responsibilities include providing superior customer service, taking cake orders from customers by telephone or in person, with a high level of accuracy.

You'll answer customer questions regarding products; assist them with selections and use suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build department sales. Production responsibilities include applying proper decorating techniques for each item, according to visual training aids (VTAs) to produce quality cakes and pastries. You'll write on cakes with icing on request, read / execute daily production list through cake flow, and ensure quality control of all products before sending to sales floor per VTAs.

Food service duties involve preparing, packaging, and merchandising fresh product effectively. You'll slice, package, label, and rotate products and record production and shrink to aid in production planning. Food safety responsibilities include maintaining sanitation in work area, complying with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards, and complying with department / Store operating procedures. You'll operate / maintain all equipment properly.

Qualifications and key requirements include being 18+ years old, having 1+ years of work experience, and possessing knowledge of computer systems and equipment (e.g., PC, symbol, scales, label machine). Strong customer service skills, communication and interpersonal skills, reading and writing skills, and planning and organizing skills are required. An HS diploma or GED or equivalent is required. Licenses/certifications include completion of Company Orientation and safety training.

eCommerce Online Ordering training is required upon hire.

Physical demands include functioning in a fast-paced, retail environment, in detailed and precise tasks. You'll work with customers, staying attentive to their needs and constantly stand, reach at waist, grasp. Occasionally, you'll walk, reach at overhead, reach at shoulder, reach at knee, reach at floor, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, stair climb, pivot, twist, arm push / pull, pinch, utilize fine motor skills.

You may be exposed to wet, cold, hot conditions, and loud noise. You'll demonstrate the ability to lift up to 40 lbs and manage in excess of 25 lbs. It is Partners' responsibility to never lift beyond their own safe lifting limit. If an item is too heavy to lift, push or pull, and / or carry, the Partner must break the box down into lighter, smaller, more manageable components, or ask for assistance from another Partner or a manager.
