Job DescriptionUnder general supervision, apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and structures throughout the district.

Qualifications- Valid Texas Driver’s license (required)
- Two+ years experience in painting field (preferred)
- Basic skills and knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in the painting trade
- Knowledge of potential hazards and necessary safety precautions related to equipment use
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships
- Performs painting tasks at schools, shop, or fixed site
- Paints interior and exterior surfaces such as walls, ceilings, doors, window trim, baseboards, handrails, flag poles, etc.
- Scrapes, sands, and prepares surfaces for paint
- Applies stain, primer, intermediate and finished coats of shellac, varnish, and paint with brush or roller
- Layouts and paints lines on playgrounds, athletic courts, parking lots; uses stencils
- Maintains vehicle supplied with tools and adequate materials
- Responds to emergency call-outs, 7 days a week/24 hours a day
- May work nights and/or varying shifts
- Follows all safety regulations related to job functions
- Performs other general maintenance duties, including parking lot repair, moving furniture and equipment, and responding to emergency or crisis situations in the District
Handcart, hand dollies, small hand tools, pressure washer, pump-up spray bottle, air filtration devices, and masks.
Audio/Visual DemandsAverage hearing, corrected 20/20 vision and good depth perception.
Working ConditionsThe job requires working in a fast‑paced, high‑intensity environment with frequent interruptions. It may require prolonged periods of sitting, reaching, repetitive hand motions, and prolonged computer use. Overtime is required as necessary.
