Electrical Technician

The Transmission Line Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, and repair of transmission infrastructure that supports the safe and reliable delivery of electric power across CenterPoint Energy's service territory. This role plays a critical part in maintaining grid reliability and responding to system issues that impact customers and operations.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform field installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair activities on transmission line and electrical infrastructure throughout the service territory.
• Inspect, test, and troubleshoot transmission facilities, conductors, cables, and related equipment to identify deficiencies and support system reliability.
• Perform cable splicing, termination, and repair activities utilizing industry-standard tools, equipment, and safety practices.
• Utilize specialized diagnostic and testing equipment to evaluate system performance, identify issues, and verify successful repairs.
• Install, connect, test, and commission electrical equipment in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Install protective insulation, grounding, and weatherproofing materials to ensure long-term system integrity and operational safety.
• Support the installation and maintenance of transmission support equipment and communication systems necessary for reliable grid operations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical trade school or utility-related training preferred.
• 8+ years of experience performing transmission line, electrical utility, power delivery, substation, or related field maintenance work.
• Experience reading construction drawings, one-line diagrams, switching documents, or technical specifications preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical safety practices, troubleshooting techniques, and utility operations.
