- Lead the design, development, and optimization of embedded software and firmware for hardware products
- Identify and resolve software and firmware issues with timely and effective solutions
- Create and update technical documentation, including design specifications, code comments, and user guides
- Prepare and create instructional technical manuscripts for firmware operation
- Allocate resources to programming projects and design detailed plans to ensure firmware functions properly
- Lead multiple project teams and internal and outsourced development partners through all stages of complex product and platform design and development
- Manage and expand relationships with internal and outsourced firmware development partners
- Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards
- Provide feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk
- Provide domain-specific expertise and firmware leadership to cross‑organization projects, programs, and activities
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate and enable communication between hardware and firmware components
- Specify and document communication protocols, system states, and feature requirements with firmware and software teams
- Drive innovation and integrate new technologies into firmware design projects
- Mentor less‑experienced software firmware engineers
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends in embedded systems and firmware development
- Four‑year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or any other related discipline, or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence
- Typically 7-10 years of work experience, preferably in firmware development, or a related field
