About This Role
Mercer Technical Services (MTS), a Quanta Services company, is seeking a Logistics Coordinator with hands‑on freight brokerage or 3PL experience to join our team in Spring, TX (The Woodlands area). This role is ideal for someone who has worked in a fast‑paced brokerage or transportation environment and understands how to source carriers, negotiate rates, and move freight efficiently across multiple lanes.
WhatYou'll Do
- Coordinate end‑to‑end freight movements (FTL, LTL, flatbed, specialized equipment) from origin to delivery
- Source and secure capacity by working directly with carriers, brokers, and transportation providers
- Negotiate rates and service terms to ensure cost‑effective and reliable transportation solutions
- Manage load lifecycle including:
- load posting / coverage
- rate confirmations
- tracking and check calls
- delivery verification
- Maintain constant communication with drivers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure execution
- Track shipments in real‑time and proactively resolve issues such as delays, breakdowns, or reassignments
- Build and maintain relationships with carrier networks and transportation partners
- Utilize TMS platforms and load boards (DAT, Truckstop, etc.) to manage and execute shipments
- Support high‑volume operations by managing multiple loads and lanes simultaneously
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and process optimization
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred
- 1–5+ years of experience in freight brokerage, 3PL, or transportation logistics, with direct experience booking loads, sourcing capacity, negotiating carrier rates, and managing shipments end‑to‑end
- Strong understanding of FTL/LTL, carrier networks, freight lanes, and market pricing
- Experience operating in a fast‑paced, high‑volume brokerage or logistics environment, managing multiple shipments simultaneously
- Experience with flatbed, heavy haul, or project‑based freight, ideally supporting construction, energy, or infrastructure projects
- Ability to negotiate effectively, build carrier relationships, and secure capacity quickly
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage delays, disruptions, and real‑time issues
- Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of urgency with high attention to detail
