Position: Preschool Teacher (Mondays & Wednesdays)

Overview

The Preschool Teacher role is pivotal in shaping the holistic development of our youngest students within a Christ-centered environment, emphasizing a balanced approach to learning through both structured and unstructured lessons. This professional creates an enriching atmosphere where hands-on activities and preschool play are seamlessly integrated with biblical teachings to foster cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual growth.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that seamlessly blend structured and unstructured learning experiences, incorporating hands-on activities and interactive preschool play
  • Create a nurturing and stimulating Christ-centered environment that encourages children's creativity, curiosity, and social interactions
  • Conduct regular assessments of each child's progress
  • Integrate diverse teaching strategies to enhance the learning experience
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development activities
  • Implement classroom management techniques that redirect challenging behaviors while encouraging positive engagement, fostering a balance between intentional learning, creative exploration, and biblical values
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, report any incidents, and follow established procedures for student safety
  • Provide supervision of students during indoor or outdoor recess activities, ensuring the students’ safety and adherence to school and ODEW policies
  • Assist in the orderly dismissal of students, as needed, maintaining a secure and organized transition from the classroom to car line
  • Stay up to date on required trainings and engage in continuous professional development as required by ODEW
  • Adhere to all ODEW policies and regulations, ensuring compliance with established standards to maintain a secure and healthy environment conducive to age appropriate learning experiences
  • Be punctual and reliable, arriving on time for assigned classes and adhering to the school's schedule
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability when facing unforeseen challenges or changes in lesson plans
  • Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor when interacting with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Continuously improve one's teaching skills and stay updated on educational trends and best practices

Required Qualifications

  • Agree with, support, and abide by the CHESS Christian School Statement of Beliefs, Lifestyle Statement, and Educational Philosophy
  • High School diploma or higher educational background
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Able to routinely lift 30 lbs without assistance
  • Able to supervise students during outdoor recess in various weather conditions, including the heat and cold
  • Strong understanding of creating and implementing effective lesson plans
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Dedication to fostering a positive, Christ-centered learning environment
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development and staying informed about educational trends
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of ODEW policies and regulations for preschool education
  • Previous teaching experience in a Christian preschool or similar faith-based educational setting
  • Up to date CPR and First Aid certification
