Registered Nurse II – Springboro Primary Care

Springboro Primary Care Position:
Registered Nurse II

Schedule:

24 hour/week Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, with Saturday coverage as needed (8am to Noon) Saturday

Hours:

8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Position Overview

Cincinnati Children's is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse II to join our Springboro Primary Care team. This position provides a unique combination of telephone triage, care coordination, patient and family communication, and direct clinical care in a pediatric primary care setting.

The RN serves as an important resource for patients and families, helping them navigate questions and concerns between visits while also providing hands-on clinical care in the office. The successful candidate will be organized, responsive, clinically skilled, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced outpatient environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient and Family Communication & Care Coordination
    • Provide telephone triage for patients and families, assessing symptoms and determining appropriate recommendations and level of care.
    • Respond to and follow up on MyChart messages, providing timely communication and coordinating care with providers.
    • Communicate patient concerns, clinical findings, and updates to providers and other members of the healthcare team.
    • Coordinate prescription refill requests and communicate with providers as needed.
    • Follow up on laboratory results and ensure appropriate communication and action plans are completed.
    • Follow up on newborn screening results and coordinate necessary provider review and patient/family follow-up.
    • Provide updates to families regarding test results, treatment plans, and provider recommendations within the scope of nursing practice.
    • Assist with coordinating referrals, follow-up appointments, and other aspects of patient care.
    • Identify changes in patient condition and escalate concerns to the appropriate provider.
  • Direct Patient Care
    • Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients in the primary care office.
    • Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
    • Administer immunizations and other medications according to established guidelines.
    • Perform phlebotomy and obtain appropriate laboratory specimens.
    • Perform point-of-care testing and communicate results to the healthcare team.
    • Provide and assist with breathing treatments and respiratory assessments.
    • Perform straight catheterization and other appropriate nursing procedures.
    • Obtain vital signs, complete nursing assessments, and document clinical findings accurately.
    • Provide patient and family education related to medications, treatments, illness management, preventive care, and follow-up.
    • Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in a child's condition.
  • Collaboration & Professional Practice
    • Partner closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
    • Serve as a clinical resource for patients, families, and team members.
    • Promote evidence-based pediatric nursing practice and high-quality, family-centered care.
    • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record.
    • Support patient safety, quality improvement, and efficient clinic operations.
    • Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and excellent communication in every patient and family interaction.
