Lewis Collision Center is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Paint Prepper to join our collision repair team. What You'll Do

As a Paint Prepper, you will prepare vehicles and parts for the painting process while helping our body and paint technicians maintain an efficient workflow.

Responsibilities include:
  • Prepare vehicles and parts for paint and refinishing.
  • Sand, scuff, feather-edge, and prepare repaired surfaces.
  • Perform masking and taping of vehicles and components.
  • Clean and degrease surfaces before refinishing.
  • Apply primers, sealers, and other approved materials as directed.
  • Assist painters with mixing and preparing materials when needed.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Properly care for and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Inspect work to ensure surfaces are properly prepared before entering the paint booth.
  • Work efficiently while maintaining Lewis Collision Center's quality standards.
  • Assist other members of the collision repair team as needed.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous automotive collision or paint preparation experience preferred.
  • Automotive body or paint experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a production environment.
  • Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and develop your skills.
  • Ability to safely use sanding tools, masking equipment, and other shop equipment.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate basic automotive and paint-preparation tools and equipment.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, reach, and work in a shop environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move parts and materials as required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Willingness to follow all company, OSHA, and safety procedures.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in an automotive collision repair or body shop environment.
  • Previous experience as a Paint Prepper, Body Technician, Painter's Helper, or similar position.
  • Experience with sanding, feather-edging, masking, priming, and surface preparation.
  • Familiarity with automotive refinishing products and procedures.
  • Experience using DA sanders, grinders, masking equipment, and other collision repair tools.
  • Basic understanding of automotive paint and refinishing processes.
  • I-CAR or other collision repair training is a plus.
  • Ability to identify surface imperfections and properly prepare repairs for refinishing.
