Site Manager (Industrial/Petrochemical)

Position: Site Manager

Report to: General Superintendent

Salary range: $100,000 - $130,000

Job Description Overview

The site manager is responsible for on‑site management of an assigned Industrial/Petrochemical project and crew. The role includes providing job site leadership, liaising with clients to ensure successful project completion, managing crew resources, overseeing safety, and reporting on progress. The position is exempt status (salary).

Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
  • Ensure all crew members familiarize themselves with safety procedures and review operator/user manuals before operating any power tools or equipment.
  • Ensure all assigned crews complete daily job reports, track production, and record crew and equipment hours via HCSS Heavy Job software on company‑provided iPads.
  • Ensure all assigned crews complete SLAM books, Task Hazard Analysis Forms, daily safety briefings, and pre‑work stretching programs.
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute future tasks for multiple crews to ensure project completion.
  • Ensure the assigned crew members operate heavy construction equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure the assigned crew members install water, storm sewer, and sewer pipe and associated structures safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure the assigned crew members form, pour, and finish horizontal and vertical concrete structures safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure assigned crew members complete and record daily inspections on all equipment.
  • Manage and direct the work of at least two assigned crew members at once.
  • Liaise with clients and report on progress to staff and the public.
  • Buy materials for each phase of the project.
  • Monitor build costs and project progress.
  • Check and prepare site reports, designs, and drawings.
  • Maintain quality control checks.
  • Handle day‑to‑day problem solving and address any issues that arise.
  • Use specialist project‑management computer programs.
  • Work on‑site in all weathers, at client businesses or in a site office.
  • Travel to and from various job sites as needed, conduct interviews, and make hiring recommendations based on reasonable judgment to be given particular weight in final decisions.
  • Provide promotion and/or termination recommendations for crew members to be given particular weight in final decisions.
Education and Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or trade school certificate preferred.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Working knowledge of construction site safety, truck maintenance, and road safety regulations.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug screening and any random drug screening if randomly selected.
  • Must attend all mandatory safety meetings and participate in discussions with the work crew and any safety personnel on site.
  • Must work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required; the average work week may consist of five ten‑hour days, with schedule dictated by project needs.
  • Must work out of town, sometimes out of state, and for lengths of time as the job requires.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk; may occasionally stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.
  • Travel from site to site will be required.
  • Work environment will normally be an active construction site; exposure to dust, noise, high heat, extreme cold, and rain is expected.
  • Must perform repetitive motion and heavy lifting as described below.
  • Must maintain effective audio and visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for successful performance of assigned duties.
  • Must wear all employer‑mandated personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, safety vests, and safety‑toed work boots; all PPE will be provided by the company at no cost except for safety boots.
  • Must be able to hear with or without a hearing device and see at least 30 feet with or without corrective vision lenses; specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
