Job Summary:

The Lead Youth Development Coordinator plays a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging Club environment where youth can learn, grow, and thrive. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the site, supporting staff performance, facilitating programming, and ensuring compliance with organizational, school, and grant requirements.

This role serves as a key point of contact for staff, families, and school partners, working to build strong relationships and maintain clear, consistent communication. The Lead staff member models a culture of belonging, safety, and respect while supporting both youth development and team success. This position is not counted in staff-to-youth ratio and is expected to provide leadership, redirection, and oversight across the site.

Key Responsibilities Program Leadership & Operations Oversee the day-to-day operations and overall flow of the Club/site.

Serve as the lead on-site to ensure smooth operations, staff support, and program quality.

Facilitate at least one 30-minute program each week. Programs may include target programs, interest-based programs, or social-emotional learning curriculum.

Provide an additional hour per week dedicated to program planning and preparation.

Lead the planning and implementation of engaging, developmentally appropriate programming that promotes youth voice, choice, and belonging.

Ensure all programming meets state, licensing, school, and grant compliance requirements, including DHS, Better Beginnings, USDA, and other applicable standards.

Ensure all attendance is entered into Daxko by Friday each week.

Maintain accurate data entry, attendance tracking, and required documentation including rosters, compliance logs, and program records.

Support meal program compliance, including food service tracking and documentation.

Maintain a clean, organized, and emotionally safe program space.

Build and maintain rapport with school faculty to support positive communication and strong site relationships.

Youth Development & Culture Build meaningful, supportive relationships with youth and provide guidance, mentorship, and behavioral support.

Promote a trauma-informed, inclusive, and emotionally safe environment for all members.

Support conflict resolution, emotional regulation, and positive behavior strategies.

Design activities that foster empowerment, engagement, and social-emotional growth.

Family & Community Engagement Greet families warmly during drop-off and pick-up, creating a welcoming and professional environment.

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding member behavior, progress, incidents, and program updates.

Support and participate in conversations related to incident/accident reports and behavioral concerns.

Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide timely, accurate information to families and community members.

Act as a communication bridge between the Club and families, ensuring transparency and trust.

School & Site Relationships Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with school partners, including principals, teachers, and administrative staff.

Serve as a positive representative of the Club within the school environment.

Collaborate with school staff to ensure alignment, communication, and support for shared youth.

Proactively address concerns and foster a collaborative, solutions-focused partnership with the site.

Staff Leadership & Team Support Support a positive team culture grounded in respect, accountability, and collaboration.

Communicate expectations set by leadership and help ensure consistency across the site.

Responsible for ensuring Youth Development Coordinators are fulfilling their job descriptions and providing redirection, coaching, and support as needed.

Provide guidance, modeling, and support to staff on youth engagement, behavior management, and daily operations.

Step into various roles as needed to ensure site success.
