Position Summary
Full-Time Faculty member in the History department, teaching courses such as History of the American People and World Civilizations in traditional, online, and hybrid formats.
Responsibilities- Teach 15 credit hours per semester, using established course outlines across multiple delivery formats.
- Develop and deliver course materials, including lectures, assignments, and assessments.
- Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate records in compliance with FERPA.
- Hold 10 on-campus office hours per week and maintain regular communication with students.
- Participate in program assessment, curriculum development, and textbook selection.
- Attend and fulfill all scheduled classes, meetings, and academic responsibilities.
- Maintain an on-campus presence averaging 32 hours per week.
- Maintain current knowledge in historical scholarship through ongoing professional development and continuing education.
- Advise and support students in achieving academic goals.
- Serve on committees, advisory boards, and participate in campus governance.
- Attend required meetings, ceremonies, and professional events.
- Mentor new faculty and contribute to departmental and institutional initiatives.
- Master’s degree in history.
- Master’s degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in history.
- PhD in a related field.
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
- 18 graduate hours in political science.
Rate of pay determined by faculty scale placement (education and years of experience). Higher compensation may be considered based on qualifications directly related to the position.
Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentThe following physical activities are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Frequent: manipulate items with fingers, including keyboarding; sit; stand; walk.
- Constant: hearing; repetitive motion; talking.
- Visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading or visual inspection at close distances.
- Work environment typical of a professional office setting with moderate noise level, controlled lighting, and temperature. Occasional visits to other areas such as storage rooms, conference spaces, or outdoor locations may occur.
