Role DescriptionThe Siemens Automation Specialist is responsible for programming, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Siemens industrial automation systems. The role works hands‑on with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, industrial networks, instrumentation, and electrical systems, while supporting commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
The position requires strong experience with TIA Portal, STEP 7, WinCC, Siemens S7-300/400/1200/1500 PLCs, and industrial communication networks, preferably in steel manufacturing or cold mill environments.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership for Siemens automation systems
- Program and troubleshoot Siemens PLCs: S7-300/400/1200/1500
- Develop and modify WinCC HMI applications
- Work with TIA Portal, STEP 7 and PCS 7
- Troubleshoot MCCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, instrumentation and control panels
- Configure and troubleshoot PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Industrial Ethernet and Modbus
- Support FAT, SAT, commissioning and startup
- Analyze equipment performance and implement process improvements
- Maintain PLC/HMI documentation and software backups
- Troubleshoot industrial safety systems, including E-Stops, safety relays and interlocks
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of Siemens automation experience
- Strong experience with TIA Portal, STEP 7 and WinCC
- Solid electrical troubleshooting experience
- Ability to read electrical schematics, control drawings and P&IDs
- Knowledge of Ladder Logic, Structured Text and Function Block Diagram
- Experience in industrial manufacturing; steel industry / cold mills is highly preferred
