associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma.

recommended education

bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.

two years of experience.

required certifications

one of the following license or registry is required.

  • arrt – mri specialist – american registry of radiology technologist (arrt)
  • armrit – mri technician certification – american registry of magnetic resonance imaging technologists (armrit)
description
  • knowledge and skills to perform diagnostic scans as directed by radiologists.
  • use correct scan protocols to optimize image quality while decreasing scan length and repeat procedures, and demonstrate knowledge of patient positioning and coil selection.
  • screen patients, families, and staff with attention to pregnancy and mri contraindications.
  • follow all safety recommendations regarding mri.
  • ensure that work area is properly maintained.
  • troubleshoot and report malfunctioning equipment.
  • comply with all tjc, state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
  • perform other duties as assigned.
