Position Overview

North West Arkansas Community College (NWACC) seeks a Pharmacy Technician Instructor to provide didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction. The instructor will update curriculum, prepare syllabi, evaluate students, and participate in program development. The role is on-site, in-person instruction on a term-by-term basis.

Essential Duties
  • Prepare and update course syllabi for each course taught.
  • Provide instruction covering the curriculum for assigned classes.
  • Assure compliance with program expectations and support program outcomes.
  • Perform student evaluation and use continuous quality improvement techniques to determine the effectiveness of instruction and student success.
  • Discuss concerns with students related to the learning experience.
  • Assist students in developing professional values and attitudes.
  • Maintain accurate student records.
  • Identify students needing assistance and refer/aid as needed.
  • Create a respectful classroom environment that demonstrates commitment to multiculturalism.
  • Generate reports as requested by the Dean of Health Professions and NWACC.
  • Participate in program development activities.
  • Assist in the enforcement of program regulations and report student conduct violations.
  • Contribute to community engagement and participate in community activities when possible.
  • Make recommendations for supplies, equipment, textbooks, and scheduling of facilities.
  • Maintain current knowledge in subject matter and effective teaching/learning strategies.
  • Serve as a professional role model for students.
  • Complete other duties assigned to meet student, employer, and program needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Work effectively with employees and all levels of leadership.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio) and HRIS systems.
  • Self-starter with accountability and minimal supervision.
  • Handle highly confidential material efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
  • Build relationships with individuals and teams across institution and industry.
  • Analyze information and recommend appropriate action.
  • Knowledge of planning, research, and analysis techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of department, operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct research and perform quantitative quality assurance reviews.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive written and oral reports.
  • Organize and conduct meetings and workshops.
  • Knowledge of state and federal personnel laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Report clear, concise and accurate ad‑hoc reports to all levels of leadership.
Physical Demands

Continuously required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk or hear; regularly required to reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to walk and lift up to 25 lbs. Requires close vision. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.

Work environment is moderate noise level, onsite, in person instruction. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for disabilities.

Required Qualifications
  • Currently licensed/certified as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Associates degree in healthcare or closely related field; or bachelor’s degree for preferred qualifications.
  • Minimum of 3 years as a licensed/certified Pharmacy Technician.
  • Preferred:
    Minimum of 5 years as a licensed/certified Pharmacy Technician.
  • Formal teaching experience.
Salary

$765 per credit hour.
