Job Summary:

The Level 2 CT Technologist is responsible for performing computed tomography (CT) scans to produce detailed cross-sectional images of patients' internal organs and tissues. This role requires operating CT equipment, administering contrast materials, positioning patients accurately, and adhering to safety protocols to ensure high-quality diagnostic imaging. The technologist will also assist with inpatient portable x-rays during overnight shifts. A minimum of two years of experience and current licensure and certifications in radiologic technology are required.

Responsibilities:

Operate CT scanners to capture diagnostic images as per physician instructions.
Administer contrast materials safely and appropriately during CT procedures.
Position patients to obtain optimal imaging results while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Perform portable x-rays for inpatients as needed during overnight shifts.
Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment according to safety and quality standards.
Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
Document procedures and maintain accurate patient records.
Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare team members to ensure effective imaging services.

Required Skills &

Certifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduation from an approved radiologic technology school with advanced training in CT, MRI, and interventional radiography.
Current New York State license as a Radiologic Technologist.
Current ARRT certification.
Certification by NYS for contrast injections.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as a CT technologist.
Current BLS (AHA) certification.

Preferred Skills &

Certifications:

Experience with MRI and interventional radiography procedures.
Ability to perform inpatient portable x-rays independently.
Strong patient positioning and communication skills.

Special Considerations:

Must adhere to radiation safety and infection control protocols.
Physical ability to maneuver equipment and assist disabled patients.
Weekend shift work required including double shifts on Saturday and Sunday.

Scheduling:

Weekend shifts with options:
Saturday 4 PM to 7 AM and Sunday double shift or Saturday 11:30 PM to 7 AM and Sunday 4 PM to 11:30 PM.
Scheduling may be split between two technologists to cover weekend hours.
