Job Summary

The Night Shift Inpatient Operations Pharmacist is responsible for managing the night shift operations of the Inpatient Pharmacy, ensuring compliance with pharmacy standards, and providing comprehensive pharmacy and medication management services to a diverse patient population including pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, oncology, and obstetric patients. This role involves coordinating staffing and workflow, assigning daily duties, acting as a liaison between staff and supervisors, and delivering direct patient care in accordance with organizational policies.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day staffing and workflow of the Inpatient Pharmacy during the night shift.
  • Assign daily duties to pharmacy staff including pharmacists, technicians, aides, and billers.
  • Maintain compliance with inpatient pharmacy standards and policies.
  • Serve as liaison between pharmacy staff and supervisory personnel.
  • Provide direct pharmacy services and medication management to patients.
  • Offer technical and administrative guidance to professional and non-professional pharmacy employees.
  • Ensure consistent level of pharmacy service delivery across patient populations.
  • Cover shifts as needed to address staffing deficits.
  • Participate in career advancement opportunities through tier levels based on experience and involvement.
Required Skills & Certifications
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (BS-Pharm) from an ACPE-accredited school.
  • Current, valid, and unrestricted pharmacist license in a U.S. state, territory, or District of Columbia.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience for Operations Pharmacist I; minimum of 2 years for Operations Pharmacist II.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical, hospital, and clinical pharmacy practices and services.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
  • Board Certification in an ASHP-approved specialty such as Cardiology Pharmacy, Compounded Sterile Preparations Pharmacy, Critical Care Pharmacy, Infectious Diseases Pharmacy, Pharmacotherapy, or Emergency Medicine.
Special Considerations
  • Position is primarily assigned to night shift operations.
  • May be required to cover other shifts to address staffing shortages.
  • Work environment includes inpatient hospital pharmacy serving diverse populations and clinical specialties.
Scheduling
  • Night shift schedule with potential assignment to other shifts as needed.
