Hidden Valley Animal Hospital is a four‑doctor practice serving the Independence, Missouri area. We are a general practice hospital that also offers Urgent Care appointments and maintains strong partnerships with local organizations, including Blue Springs Animal Control.
Students will work closely with our supervising Associate Veterinarian to gain hands‑on experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, developing treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing and assisting with surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to strengthening their clinical skills, student externs will also have the opportunity to develop their communication skills while working alongside our medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship experiences at Hidden Valley Animal Hospital range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships are reserved for students in their final clinical year of veterinary school.
Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education may also be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. ClickHERE to view stipend amounts andHERE for additional details regarding the stipend program.
