Reporting Relations

Accountable and reports to:
District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Service Managers. Positions that report to you:
None.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide prompt, efficient, friendly customer service.
  • Greet customers in a friendly manner.
  • Learn and use customers’ names.
  • Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading/unloading heavy items, recording and passing along suggestions or requests, and enhancing the shopping experience.
  • Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service.
  • Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
  • Package purchases.
  • Clean registers, restrooms, break room, backroom; sweep and mop floor; tend to supply needs.
  • Assist customers in transporting purchases.
  • Help train new courtesy clerks.
  • Check prices on products.
  • Pull products forward on shelf.
  • Bring carts from parking lot and cart corral.
  • Clean the redemption area and empty recycling bins where applicable.
  • Stock, face, rotate merchandise; clean shelves; understand shelf tags; know merchandise location in store and back room.
  • Maintain supplies on front end (paper/plastic sacks, receipt paper, etc.).
  • Maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines for personal hygiene and dress.
  • Adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines.
  • Report to work when scheduled and on time.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in all departments as requested (within wage and hour guidelines).
  • Deliver product to customers (within wage and hour guidelines).
  • Shovel, salt, and sand walkways.
  • Assist in other areas of store as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics
  • Carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions; deal with a few concrete variables.
  • Perform simple addition and subtraction; copy figures, count and record.
  • Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies orally or in writing; increase contact with people.
Education and Experience

No education or experience requirements.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision. Must be able to perform the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
