Sheet Metal Lead

Location: FDA facility, Jefferson, AR
Employment Type: Full-time; contingent upon contract award

Pay: $32.84-$37.34 per hour, plus $11.55 fringe benefit

Position Summary

Lead sheet metal work and perform or coordinate fabrication, installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of ductwork, air distribution components, HVAC sheet metal, flashing, panels, guards, and related metal components.

Compensation note: Shown as Lead Craftsman I-III range pending final classification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead assigned sheet metal work, coordinate daily tasks, review priorities, and support preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Fabricate, install, modify, and repair ductwork, fittings, diffusers, dampers, access panels, guards, flashing, and other sheet metal components.
  • Read drawings, layouts, specifications, work orders, measurements, and safety procedures to complete work accurately.
  • Coordinate with HVAC, controls, maintenance, safety, quality control, vendors, and other trades to resolve field issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, materials used, measurements, and follow‑up needs.
  • Use safe work practices, proper tools, lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment, and site‑specific requirements.
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, records, work order notes, material usage, or other documentation as required.
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, team members, customer representatives, vendors, subcontractors, and facility personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in facilities operations, maintenance, utilities, construction, trades, administration, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow work orders, technical instructions, safety procedures, and site rules.
  • Strong reliability, professionalism, customer service, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to pass required background check, drug screening, badging, security, or site access requirements.
  • Valid driver's license may be required for positions that operate company or site vehicles.
  • Sheet metal, HVAC duct, fabrication, or related trade experience and prior lead experience are required or strongly preferred.
  • Ability to use sheet metal tools, layout methods, measurements, and safe work practices is required or strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in commercial, institutional, federal, FDA, laboratory, or industrial HVAC sheet metal environments.
  • Experience working in federal, government, research, institutional, industrial, food service, or commercial facilities.
  • Experience using CMMS, work order systems, safety programs, or formal maintenance documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi‑trade operations and maintenance team.
Physical Requirements

This position may require standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, lifting, carrying tools or materials, working in mechanical spaces, and performing duties indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. Specific requirements will depend on the final position assignment and worksite needs.
