The hours and location you’ll work in as a Diesel Mechanic with WM:

  • Monday – Friday every week.
  • Shift is from 9am to 6:30pm.
  • Stable hours for the financial security and work‑life balance you need.
  • Normal setting is a repair / maintenance shop at our Springdale, AR hauling site.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
  • Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
  • Perform work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Perform safety checks on vehicles – the safety of every employee and the people in our communities is our number one priority.
  • Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Assist senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
  • Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record.
  • Over 18 years of age.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Successfully complete and pass pre‑employment drug screen and physical.

Work environment and physical demands

  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and climbing; constant standing, walking, and grasping; occasional sitting and balancing.
  • Exposure to physical occupational risks such as cuts, burns, toxic chemicals, etc., often.
  • Exposure to environmental elements such as dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar, often.
  • Operations in inside garage, shop or gas plant conditions as well as outside conditions with inclement weather, heat and humidity.
