Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the batch plant manager in daily plant operations and maintenance tasks.
  • Perform light servicing and general upkeep on plant equipment, using ladders for access when needed.
  • Safely operate heavy equipment such as bobcat, skid steer, man lift, water truck, and haul truck.
  • Promptly report any issues to management.
  • Contribute to all aspects of plant operation, including running loaders, managing the batch house, and cleaning conveyor belt screens.
  • Assist with maintaining ice supplies for concrete mix loads as required.
  • Help with landscaping duties to keep plant grounds safe and tidy, utilizing weed eaters, mowers, and other landscape tools.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with co‑workers, especially when operating or backing equipment, using hand signals or other agreed methods.
  • Always comply strictly with company policies and OSHA/MSHA safety regulations.
  • Follow instructions from the Batchman and Operations Manager regarding daily assignments and site expectations.
  • Complete daily equipment inspections and required documentation in accordance with company standards.
  • Support and help train less experienced team members to build a stronger, safer crew.
  • Take on other duties as needed to support plant operations and your fellow team members.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license required (must obtain and maintain).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must pass a job‑specific physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
  • Strict commitment to safety standards and procedures.
  • Must have a positive, professional attitude and be willing to help others.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including up to six days a week, with possible overtime, nights, and weekends.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas (including face shields, safety shoes, and safety vests).
  • Compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations is mandatory.
  • Reasonable accommodations provided as necessary to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Willingness and ability to learn plant operations and equipment handling.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math for record keeping and understanding work instructions.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to operate complex equipment safely and efficiently under varying conditions.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to high‑quality work, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with securing and transporting heavy equipment is a plus.
  • Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility.
  • Regularly sit, climb, and use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height.
  • Lift and move objects weighing up to 25‑50 lbs. as needed.
  • Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions.
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments.
  • Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception to operate equipment safely.
