This position oversees the planning and coordination of export-specific shipment schedules in order to achieve specific service and financial goals; arranges and coordinates all shipping activities with dray carriers, ocean carriers, container freight stations, marine terminals, and freight forwarders making most effective use of all transportation expenses; serves as the focal resource point for all external and interdepartmental use of freezer activities and information;
monitors and coordinates shipping activities at various export shipping locations; audits various freight invoices related to international shipments; continuously seeks better processes and more efficient shipping lanes. Assists in the supervision and training of other team members in the department and other duties as required. After-hours work are a routine piece of responsibility. Emails and phone calls after hours are common.
This position will require project management activities supporting export initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver the financial plan through optimal freight planning and carrier alignment.
- Ensure risk management and contingency planning related to trends and threats impacting global transportation and global business units.
- Build strong relationships and trust with internal and external team members and business partners.
- Booking and overseeing international freight movements leveraging driver management, on time service management, asset utilization, driver safety and compliance, load assignment and selection, trailer pool plan execution, driver expense management; other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred. - Experience:
3 plus years experience; some international operational experience preferred. - Computer
Skills:
Standard computer skills including generating spreadsheets and word processing documents; developing templates for use by other team members; preparing presentations; data analytics, etc. - Project Management experience preferred.
- Communication
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Special
Skills:
Highly motivated with strong problem-solving skills. - Supervisory:
Some dotted line responsibility for coordinator. - Travel: 1 or 2 domestic trips per year possible.
